A full-time role that built the foundation, and a freelance relationship that proved itself twice: once by holding rankings for a year with no upkeep, and again by staying active ever since.

ENGAGEMENT

Content Growth Partnership

THE CHALLENGE

A small platform, and no content function at all.

In February 2021, Selfstudys.com was pulling in around 60,000 monthly organic visitors, with no dedicated content team behind it. Growth in the exam-prep space depends on ranking for thousands of specific, high-intent searches: previous year papers, sample papers, board solutions, revision notes, and mock tests across dozens of exams and state boards. Someone had to build that system from the ground up, with no existing playbook to follow.

THE APPROACH

Two phases, one relationship.

01

Building the foundation (2021 to 2023)

I joined Selfstudys.com as the sole full-time content writer. I had no prior professional experience at the time, so the SEO content system I built here became the foundation for everything I do today. Working alone at first, I wrote and structured content across CBSE, ICSE, and state board exams, along with competitive exams like NEET and JEE.

As the platform grew, so did the need for more hands. I was given the opportunity to interview and hire content writers, eventually growing into a content manager role. I hired and trained three writers to work within the same content system and quality standards I had developed, so growth didn’t depend on any single person.

I left Selfstudys in November 2023. By then, the platform had crossed 7 million monthly organic visitors.

02

The freelance chapter (October 2024 to present)

I left Selfstudys behind completely for almost a year, working a full-time role elsewhere. In October 2024, Toushif, who owns Selfstudys, reached out. The content I had written during my full-time tenure was still holding its rankings, untouched, nearly a year after I’d stopped working on it. He wanted more of it. Since then, I’ve worked with Selfstudys on a freelance basis.

This isn’t a one-time engagement I’m pointing back to. It’s an active, ongoing relationship, now well into its second year. From October 2024 through July 2026, I’ve published 269 pieces of content, roughly 388,000 words in total, spanning more than 30 distinct exam and board categories. That includes CBSE, ICSE, and state boards across Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Karnataka, Jharkhand, and Assam, plus competitive exams like NEET, JEE, CUET, NDA, GATE, CLAT, CAT, IIFT, NATA, AILET, and several state engineering and CA/CS entrance exams.

THE RESULTS

What this actually added up to.
